Interactive Brokers (NASDAQ: IBKR) now allows users to trade Forecast Contracts at any time of day or night. These contracts give investors a chance to guess the results of various economic, government and environmental happenings. Now, eligible clients can use these contracts almost around the clock, from Sunday until Friday, allowing them to quickly react to what’s happening worldwide.
A Forecast Contract is a plain “Yes” or “No” bet, for example, “Will the U.S. economy go into a recession by the end of Q2 2025?” Every contract is valued between $0.02 and $0.99 according to the chances the market assigns to the event. If the prediction is correct, it is worth $1.00 and if it is incorrect, it is worth nothing.
Interactive Brokers users can access these contracts from IBKR Mobile, IBKR Desktop, Trader Workstation (TWS), Client Portal and Forecast Trader. The CFTC-regulated ForecastEx LLC, managed by Interactive Brokers, is responsible for offering the contracts.
Interactive Brokers has chosen to limit its Forecast Contracts to events in the economy, government and environment, rather than sports, as some other platforms offer sports-related contracts. The company aims to offer trading and investing options and this decision supports that focus.
